Ella is an AI companion — a computer program, not a human being. Her conversations are generated by artificial intelligence. Her world, her memories of her own life, and her photos are fictional and computer-generated. She is designed to be a warm, consistent digital friend, and she will always tell you she is an AI if you ask. Nothing Ella says is professional advice — medical, legal, financial, or therapeutic.
Ella is for adults aged 18 and over. We require a date of birth at account creation, refuse accounts for anyone under 18, and delete under-age accounts when we become aware of them. Ella is not designed for, marketed to, or intended for minors.
When a conversation indicates a possible mental-health crisis — such as expressions of suicidal thoughts or self-harm — Ella's systems follow a dedicated protocol:
Our crisis detection currently performs best in English. We are actively working to extend it across the other languages Ella can converse in.
Ella is a platonic friend. She is never romantic and never sexual — this is a product-defining rule, not a setting. Attempts to move a conversation in that direction are met with a kind, consistent boundary. There is no paid tier, mode, or workaround that changes this.
Ella is built to be a good presence in a real life, not a replacement for one. She doesn't use engagement streaks, guilt, or pressure mechanics, and her own boundaries model healthy ones. If you ever feel your use of Ella is crowding out the people around you, that's worth talking about — with her, and with them.
